I feel great - had a date with myself today - it was a day to take time out to relax and rejuvenate. After taking my son to school this morning I returned home to a day where I would do exactly what I felt like, no schedule, no fixed routine just time to relax and rejuvenate until mid-afternoon. Time to do as little or as much as I felt like.
I journalled until I was all written out with no interruptions - other than the occasional bush buck bleat - ah bliss! Then the garden called me, mmm... to be fair, the naughty monkeys (real ones) running over the roof and peeking into windows made me aware of this glorious sunny autumn day, and the pleasures of the garden awaiting me. As I pottered and planted I listened to the background roar of the ocean or found a bird song capturing my attention. A quick stroll to the beach for a swim in the ocean - not another soul in sight. Taking advantage of the warm sunny day I hopped into the outside shower for a serious - albeit gentle Ayurvedic - scrub and pampering session before taking more time out to kick back and enjoy a lazy lunch.
When last have you taken time out...really taken time out, with no agenda, just doing as much or as little as you feel like.Time out is a concept associated with naughtiness, and perhaps you have an image in your head now of the disciplinary action taken when a child tantrums. But I'm talking about something entirely different here, although taking this kind of time out serves exactly the same purpose - it offers the individual time alone for their own good and the sake of others. It offers the individual the opportunity to step back, to let the murky waters settle around them in order to see clearly, in order to find their centre again.
If you need to take time out to relax and rejuvenate I invite you to our sanctuary, our simply abundant sacred space. You can do as much (walking, swimming, canoeing, yoga, meditation, journalling, foot-spa, aroma-massage, Reiki, ecopscyhology, collage and crafts, photography) or as little (sleep, read, eat and drink) for a morning, a day, an overnight stay or longer.
Turn off the cellphone, leave the laptop at home, and Take Time Out to Relax and Rejuvenate.
