A long day, up early and put in an hour and a half's work already by the time the boy wakes. A quick walk with him and the pup across the common - where we surprise a handful of grazing buck.
Four hours of administration work then a quick lunch before heading over to Kenton on Sea for scheduled meetings.
Afterwards its a quick stop here for gas and another there for groceries before heading home.
The bench in the backyard beckons and I pause a while before realising that both the puppy AND the boy need their afternoon walk.
We head off and my body feels heavy from tiredness, the young ones dash through the forest in a blur. As I edge out onto the crest of the dune the magnificent bay greets me and my soul begins to lift.
Always grateful when I seen that sight.
Amid much rough housing the puppy discovers a paper nautilus, a magnificent one and then the boy spots another, this one even bigger. We jabber and marvel at our find and head off home and I notice the spring in my step, the lightness in my soul. Hey Mother Nature thank you for your gifts and surprises - always spot on.
